G + S = Smoooooch!

Ever wonder how all this began? In honor of mine and the misters upcoming anniversary on the 31 st ( the luckiest day of the year since it is also my grandparents anniversary and the day I graduated High School, Go Jackrabbits!) I thought I would tell you all the looooonnngggg version of how we met in my best 19 yr old voice. The only thing is it will take me prob about 3 posts to complete so you will have to stay tuned for the whole scoop.
Part I: G+S the prequel
Way we shoulda met #1:
Before I met the man I call honey I was in an institute class at CGCC (Golden also went there at the same time yet somehow we never met) with a charmingly obnoxious boy named Clint Overton. Every girl on the planet had a crush on him so it should be no surprise that when my two best friends at the time, and I had him as a waiter at Gecko Grill (where Golden also worked yet I never met him there either) and he gave us free drinks, we responded as most silly girls do and left him each of our phone numbers. Clint happened to be Golden's best friend and he was also working this particular night and says he remembers telling Clint that he should call us. For whatever reason it never happened, I like to think it was because I wasn't quite ready to meet my husband to be yet.
Way we shoulda met #2:
At CGCC I took a psychology of gender differences class with a very outspoken boy named Ben Morris who for some reason seemed familiar to me, we often saw each other around campus and would say hi. You have to know that I was a little obsessed with Saturdays Warrior( awesome LDS movie that you should watch) at the time so I thought there must be a deeper reason why he seemed so familiar. The day I found out that he was engaged to cute Lexi, I can literally remember where I was on campus when I said to myself kiddingly, "Maybe I'm supposed to marry one of his friends." Ben just so happens to be one of Golden's good friends. You don't have to believe me but I swear this is a true story.

So the first night I met Golden wasn't actually the first night we hung out. I met him at a party at another boys house and he was wearing a red track jacket and cool jeans but the thing that really caught my eye was his horse shoe belt buckle. I was obsessed with horseshoes and had at least 5 horseshoe necklaces that I wore all the time. I also had started getting into big flashy belt buckles, far before the trend I might add, I even owned and wore a few myself. Naturally the first words I said to golden were Nice belt buckle, and of course he earned major cool points just for wearing it.This was the first time we "met" but it doesn't really count cause my compliment on his belt buckle was the whole of our conversation.

The last time before the first time:
A few nights after the party but before we officially hung out, my mom and I had dinner at Gecko Grill together and I pointed him out as the guy with the cool belt buckle. I remember saying something like I thought he was cute and my mom saying yeah he looks like your type. Boy isn't that the truth?

Will Golden and Shaunell Ever officially meet? What was their first date? Find out all this and more in the next installment of G+S=smooch.

Just a little note

We are in the process of moving and trying to rent our our house so needless to say things are insane around here. I am working on a post for our anniversary coming up but have not had so much time to think/ work on it. A few of this weeks gems are:
Violet pulling herself up on stuff/ trying to stand from a squatting position.
Violet mewing and mimicking her rowdy siblings screaming and crying it is hilarious.
Daphne saying so many funny things that I swore I would remember but have now drawn a blank
She was pretty hilarious the other night and told Randi and Warren ( Our besties) to fight. She was like Just fight I love it. Then she thought Randi and I should kiss, that was a hard one to explain.
This mature convo between Mo and T
Mo: I think I hear the ice cream man
T: Don't get your hopes up
Mo: I know I won't
Once a week is about all I can mange on the blog until life settles down a little and until I pull up my algebra grade!!!!!!! But I didn't forget about y'all and I will post something more interesting lickity split

I REMEMBERED!

So in my last post I mentioned that I had thought of and then forgotten about something I wanted to blog about. Well I remembered, yay for you!
The topic is my BIG mouth! In this world there are two types of people ones who shut up and ones who speak up. I am without a doubt one who speaks up. One of my secret desires is to be featured on the TV show What would you do? with John Quinones. My big mouth applies to pretty much any area of my life, ask my HOA, Qwest, Direct TV, The guy who sold me a superfluous warranty on my car, Anyone who has ever cut me in line kindergarten and up, etc etc.  More specifically I am a big mouth when it comes to saving $$$$$.

Funny story, last week my wonderful in laws; Lee, Gayle, Mallory,Taylor, and Zach all helped us paint our front room in prep for moving. Well, the men folk picked out and purchased the new Behr paint with primer which claims to cover in one coat. Originally when we painted the room teal it took a little less than 2 gallons of regular paint to cover the entire room, but as we were painting over it, two cans didn't seem to cover it and it looked like we needed a third gallon. I was not a happy camper contemplating buying a third gallon when, if the paint lived up to its claim, one coat should have been enough. So I marched myself down to the paint counter and gently explained that I was dissatisfied with the product hoping that at best I would get some sort of discount or even just an address to write the manufacturer. but it must have been my lucky day cause the kindly old gentleman who helped me generously gave me the can gratis! This is one of like a million examples of when my outspoken personality has saved the hubby some $ or aggravation . He used to kinda be embarrassed, like when we went to  restaurant and they got my order wrong and instead of just eating it like he would, I would usually end up waiting for the right meal and a little discount besides. Now he is so used to it, I think he even appreciates it .
Even though I speak up when I feel wronged I also speak up when I am the one in the wrong like when I figured out that I didn't pay for something at Sam's as I was putting a baby in the car to leave, so the next time I was there I asked to be charged for 2 of that item to make up for the last time. The cashier was like seriously you really don't have to do that no one will know. For me I always think I will know and  losing integrity is not worth any little $ amount that I might gain at anothers expense even if it is just a big corporation.
Are you a shut up or speak up type of person?
What is something that you have spoken up about?

Mother's Day recap

So last night as I was lying in bed I thought of a good idea for a post then, like everything else in my brain, it slid out while I was asleep so instead I will just ramble for a bit so that I don't feel like a blog slacker, though I am lets be honest. I will inform you in case you were wondering, I had an excellent mother's day which started much earlier than I would prefer, my children came in with a bed load of presents seriously! I got two cute cards/ reports on how awesome I am from Tristan, including hilarious illustrations and captions, A card from Morgan with a picture of me with super long hair because its his secret wish that I would grow it out, The boys also got me zebra earrings my fav, and a black rose ring. Golden got me the gift of shopping in the form of a Ross gift card, a large rose bush to kill , and an herb garden kit that I've been wanting but will most likely also kill. Gold also made me a surprisingly delicious omelet. It was soooooo good.  Then in primary ( our children's class in church) I got to wear a paper bag over my head and someone elses robe and the kids had to ask questions to guess who's mom I was. I was literally right in front of Fi-fi and she guessed that someone else was her mom which I had to laugh at. Anyway I hope y'all had a good mothers day. I am sooo grateful to all the wonderful mother's in my life including My mom/Mother in law/Step Mom/ Step Mom in law and my special Aunt(s) you know who you are, and all of my surrogate and my children's surrogate mom's as well as all of my friends who exhibit exemplary examples of motherhood which encourage and inspire me to be better everyday!!!!! I love you all

Morgan

Morgan Nash Eyestone aka: Mo, Mogan, well Morgy, Morgy Porgy, Nash, Nashy, Nashly Simpson, or Mochacho I am so weird I know!
 Morgan is........

  • A kindergartner!
  •  number two of our four kids and is sadly your typical middle child.
  • sweet as pie unless truly provoked!
  • so much like his Dad, quiet, patient, ever the peace maker and thoughtful .
  • funny
  • creative and a good artist.
  • good at helping out with chores

likes....

  • The color green, he got green shoes for kindergarten and even though they are all junky and contain the entire sand box  he fights me every morning to wear his favorite greenies over his newer less sandy ones.
  • Fruit, watermelon is his favorite and has been known to eat a whole one himself in the course of a week. The funny thing is I hardcore craved watermelon when I was pregnant with him.
  • counting
  • Sonic slushes
  • his green bunny that he got for Easter

Dislikes.......

  • mismatched socks he won't leave the house wearing them!
  • many many foods namely anything with sauce or dip

that is seriously the end of the list cause this guy is usually just happy

Classic Morgan quotes: When he was like three or something he turned to me randomly one day and said "Mom, if you wanna be a duck then be a duck if you wanna be a bear just do it!" I got this one on tape cause It was hilarious and I think about it all the time cause it is kinda liberating to think that you can just be whatever you want even if it is an animal.
Then today he said the funniest thing and I had to record it somewhere we were talking to Tristan about working hard at school even though it is the end of the year and how the harder you work the smarter you'll be. Then Morgan from the other room butts in and says," I don't wanna be smart I just wanna be happy and have fun." I couldn't help but laugh cause Morgan's motto in life is to just have fun and be happy. He is like me in that he does most things for fun and not competition. For instance Morgan has one heck of an arm and can throw super hard and fairly accurately just ask anyone who has been hit by a flying object he hurled their way. He also just throws literally anything that he has in his hands ball or not. But when asked if he wants to play catch or throw a ball around he will almost always politely decline.

Morgan is mild mannered and quiet like his Dad but it is fun when he opens up cause he usually has some random thing to say. He has a great imagination and is sweet as honey. I love this boy and our family would be a little smaller if we didn't have at least one easy going, quiet kid like Mo
